You Need to Listen to the New St. Vincent Song Right Now

"New York" is low on guitars and high on feels.

As a species, humans do not deserve mythical beings like Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent, aka the Greatest Guitarist Alive™, living amongst us. So when she zaps new music out of her magic fingertips – kind of like a grown-up, rockstar Sabrina the Teenage Witch – it's always special, which in turn makes today very special indeed. Having recently announced that she'll be embarking on a major tour, Clark shared the track "New York" with fans this morning. It's her first new music since 2015's St. Vincent, and you can hear it above in order to feel the sort of happiness that is literally only accessible to people who are listening to St. Vincent.

Most will probably be surprised by the absence of Clark's signature shredding and riffs, but the piano-led track has a great deal else to love – emotions of big, power ballad proportions rub up against timeless pianos and strings, and if the resigned, wry way she sings "you're the only motherfucker in the city who can stand me" doesn't have you in your feelings then, I don't know, maybe you don't have any.
