The xx Are Putting On Gigs That Will Please People Who Don’t Love The xx

I'm pissed because now that we've seen the lineup – including Sampha, Robyn and Kelela – I actually want to go.

Sure, I own baggy but stylish black clothing and enjoy feeling atmospherically sad sometimes, so yeah, I like The xx as much as the next person. I used to make out with boys to xx as a #teen.I enjoy the band's new music. But when they recently announced that they'd be headlining Brixton Academy over a series of seven dates between 8 and 15 March, following the release of their new album I See You last month, it kind of passed me by. So in accordance with Sod's Law, now that the band have announced the list of artists who'll be joining them on that run, I obviously have a desperate hankering to be there. But could you really blame me? Over the course of their residency they'll be supported by *deep breath*: Sampha, Kelela, Robyn, Francis and the Lights, Cat Power, Jehnny Beth of Savages, Mica Levi of Micachu and the Shapes (and 2017 Oscar nomination) aaaand Floating Points – and that's without counting the lengthy list of DJs also on the bill (Ben UFO, Gilles Peterson and Beatrice Dillon, amongst others, will all make appearances). The Brixton shows fill run under the banner of "Night + Day," and will now include a party headed up with a Jamie XX DJ set on the band's one day off from playing live, from which all proceeds will go to charity. You can buy tickets for that night, also at Brixton Academy, and see the breakdown of which artists will be playing on which dates here. Oh and if anyone has the hookup for that Francis and the Lights night (or the Robyn night. Or the Cat Power night. Any of the nights, really), hit up your girl so I can mope aesthetically.
