Do the Right Thing and Get Big Shaq to Number One This Christmas

"Man's Not Hot - Christmas Edition" is the only righteous festive hit for 2017.

It was only a matter of time. There is a Christmas edition of "Man's Not Hot" – praise whatever deity you believe in. Of course, it should be the UK Christmas number one for a large swathe of important reasons:

  • It's "Man's Not Hot" with jingle bells.
  • It's "Man's Not Hot" with Christmas carol-sounding piano on it.
  • It's "Man's Not Hot" with a choir slapped all over it.

What, I ask you, is not to love?

In all seriousness, however, even though streaming is a thing and everyone listens to music on Instagram live now or whatever, there's definitely still kind of a looming sense that the UK Christmas number one, more than any other throughout the year, ought to be about capturing the zeitgeist of the 12 months that have preceded it. There's no song that would do that better than "Man's Not Hot - Christmas Edition" – nothing has been more culturally significant (i.e. more memed) and fun.

This has been your call to arms. Thank you.
