DJ Khaled Is Extremely Serious About His Son Exec Producing His New Record

He explained four-month-old Asahd's process to Kimmel last night.

DJ Khaled's four-month-old son, Asahd, is already more successful than anyone you know. He is an entrepreneur, a businessman, a social media star, and also a baby who poops himself. This is a bold combination of attributes and one that has led his father to name him as the executive producer on his forthcoming tenth studio album, Grateful.

If you thought that Khaled was joking when he gave Asahd that level of responsibility, you were quite wrong. Last night on Kimmel, Khaled explained the thinking behind giving his son the title and did what he could to explain the small baby producer's process.

First of all, he's well-dressed. Every suit that Khaled buys, Asahd gets a tailored version of his own. And the kid's raking in cash. "His attorney has his points, his royalties, everything," Khaled said. "It's real." He insisted that Asahd "absolutely" knows he's the executive producer on the album, that he's "in the studio listening to songs with me, going over the business part of it, if the vocal's right, if the beats are right, if the energy's right. Everything, he's a part of."

Kimmel, confronted with such forthright optimism that his deadpan schtick almost snapped, prodded Khaled for details about the studio time. How does he express his pleasure at a track? What if he doesn't like a beat? Kid only has so many ways of communicating.

"Believe it or not, the poops and the throw-ups are super blessings," Khaled insisted. "Those are actually the real good ones. He actually threw up on me while i was mixing and working on "Shining." And when he threw up on me, that's a blessing. I tell him, whatever he wants to do, that's my son, I love him."

I'm sure there's a moral to this story somewhere. Maybe it's that you should call your dad. Or maybe it's that you should start shitting yourself in the workplace as a power move. Pick one.
