David Bowie Is Making Stamp Collecting Cool Again

Even from beyond the grave, the man can do anything.

Stamp collecting is not a cool hobby. This is an objective truth, sorry to say. It is probably just above birdwatching and just below train-spotting in the ranking of hobbies according to coolness. None of them are very high.  However stamp collecting's luck might be about to change, with the latest addition to the UK Royal Mail's Music Giants Special Stamp series, because your boy David Bowie, known and respected cool person, is about to be posthumously honoured with his own set of stamps. Even cooler, he's the first musician to have an entire set of stamps dedicated to them, beating out The Beatles and Pink Floyd who have been honoured too, but with single stamps. Available now for pre-order from the Royal Mail website, the limited 10-stamp collection will include images such as Bowie's most iconic album covers ( Hunky Dory, Let's Dance, Aladdin Sane, Heroes, Blackstar and Earthling), and live performance shots from throughout the musician's decades-spanning career. As well as the stamps themselves, which will go into public circulation on March 14, a number of souvenir framed stamps are also available, which – good news – means your dad's next birthday present is sorted.
