Big Sean, Multimedia Storyteller, Gets Pixellated in "Jump Out the Window" Video

'I Decided...' to become a 16-bit platforming hero.

In gaming, emergent stories are what happen when the systems of a non-narrative game naturally lead to situations and conflicts that the player interprets as part of a narrative. Big Sean may have read about this stuff (or not), but his new video for I Decided single "Jump out the Window" (hot on the heels of Friday's "Light" video) tells a story while also being kind of a game.

The plot follows Sean as he attempts to steal back his girlfriend from a dude by diving into what begins as a Super Nintendo-styled platformer and then transforms into a go-kart racer partway through. Some really innovative gameplay right there. It should also be noted that the chess-themed first level is reminiscent of Homestuck, a work of fiction no one who reads music blogs will likely ever care about because it's just too damn nerdy. Phil has spent long hours staring at ROMs of vintage games. He's on Twitter.
