Deaf Club: "April"

Deaf Club gave us a video in exchange for talking to us about karaoke and puppets.

Deaf Club may usually specialise in moody and tortured indie rock from the depths of Wales but there's a newfound soft and soothing side to them on latest track "April" taken from their upcoming EP Take In Colour. Don't worry though, the visuals for it are far from the skipping through meadows, springtime joy that the title suggests.

In anticipation for their coming release, they've blessed us with the new video right after we sent them some quickfire questions to mull over.

Hey Deaf Club! So why is this video great and what was the concept?

Deaf Club: The concept was mostly formed by producer/choreographer Holly Blakey and director Mike Sixty. They took influences from the lyrics and talking to me about the song and when it was written; also Holly is a close friend so she has more of an acuity as to what makes us tick. It's slightly obscure and abstract but you can see that there's some form of mental battle.

What's your favourite thing on your iPod right now (can't be an audiobook)?

I'm revisiting a lot of Patti Smith after seeing her in Shepherd's Bush last week. I know Jac and Paul are excited about the new Queens Of The Stone Age, Tom's revisiting Tusk.

What's the best thing you've been in fancy dress?

I was a wolf when I was eight. My mum used to rule at fancy dress, glued fur all over me.

What would your death row meal be?

Christmas dinner.

Do you fold or scrunch?
Rip.

What did you get your mum for Christmas?

I filled a big photo frame with family pictures.

And what did you do for Valentines day?
