Ed Sheeran is Our Omnipresent Overlord Now So Get Used to It

He's taking over the entertainment industry one inoffensive guitar hook at a time baby!

Ed Sheeran, by anyone's standards, is smashing it. His album ÷ has broken records all over the shop, and other than a slight slip when Steps inched ahead of him on iTunes with their disco behemoth "Scared of the Dark," he's comfortably sitting pretty atop pretty much every official chart there is from Australia to the US :(.

Apparently not content to settle for dominating just one aspect of the entertainment industry, however, Ed is now foraying into acting. God help us all.

He's been confirmed as a guest star for the next series of Game of Thrones, which is a smart choice because I am quite sure that the people who buy physical copies of Ed Sheeran albums are the same people who do Facebook statuses about Game of Thrones being "epic" (if he plays a character who sings, I will be smashing every television I come into contact with as an attempt to no-platform him). The acting doesn't stop there, though, as he's also recently dabbled in a spot of self-deprecating humour while playing himself with the lads from People Just Do Nothing's Kurupt FM, for Comic Relief:

But it's important to remember that this is not the only acting Ed has done: he recently went along with James Blunt's story about Princess Beatrice cutting him on the face, which turned out to be false. I repeat: a princess did not cut Sheeran's cheek at a party while pretending to knight him. That was made up. I don't mean to gossip but basically: James Blunt is a big old liar and Ed Sheeran went along, for reasons unknown. Blunt's theory? That Sheeran went with the "I was sliced by a sword" thing because "he must be desperate – he's trying to sell records". Tbh we won't be taking your word for that either, Mr Blunt. Now that Sheeran has confidently set himself up to be the biggest name in British music in 2017, the rest of entertainment looks to be his for the taking. It's going to be a long year.
