Here's a Video of Liam Gallagher Spitting His "Grime Lyrics"

More importantly: why do I love it?

It feels like news in itself that Liam Gallagher has done a radio interview and the main takeaway from it isn't that he has verbally insulted his brother or, when the mood strikes, Damon Albarn. That kind of tells you where the majority of excitable press coverage is at with Liam Gallagher. It's excellent, then, that he is 'making' 'headlines' for another reason: his "grime lyrics." It's honestly better if you don't ask questions and just watch:

Speaking to Christian O'Connell on Absolute Radio, Liam mentions that his eldest son is into "this grime stuff" before going on to announce: "Mate I've got some grime lyrics man, at the moment." Which, of course he has. Without being asked, he launches into all two of his two bars: "Our kid said you ain't road / The only roads you sweep are paved with gold." O'Connell tells him it is "really good."

To be honest, it's not the worst "establishment(-ish) figure does grime" thing I've ever seen? At least he seems to know what "road" is – we can probably thank his kid for that – and doesn't burst into a fit of giggles when he's done making out that he's taking the piss (O'Connell could take a leaf out of that book tbh). He also nicely blends his own turn of phrase ("our kid") with grime's London-centric parlance. We may bring you a followup related to this very soon, but we can't say more right at this moment. Just watch this Noisey x Liam space. In the meantime, perhaps a collab may soon be on the cards – Gallagher does namecheck Skepta after all (he signs off with "Skepta, 'av it mate"). This could be the meeting of titans that will save us all.
