Prince’s Unfinished Memoir Will Be Released This Year

'Variety' reports that publisher ICM is going to put out the finished version of the untitled autobiography in time for the holiday season.

There are so many stories from other people about Prince that you could safely put together a portrait of the artist together from just those scattered anecdotes. According to publisher ICM, Prince himself was going to remedy that by releasing a memoir, but he died before it could be completed. However, that book is apparently going to be released late this year, anyways.

As reported by Variety, ICM agent Esther Newberg told the magazine's Strictly Business podcast that Prince had been working on and "committed to" an autobiography for her publishing company, working with author Dan Piepenbring and three editors "several weeks" before his death in April 2016. According to Newberg, the Purple One had only handed in 50 completed pages of the book, and the remaining (presumably very large) chunk will probably be reconstructed "just in time for the holiday season" from his longhand notes. The still-untitled book might not count as a true memoir at that point, but it'll likely be the closest thing we'll ever get to one. Read and listen to the full Variety interview here.
