Last week was the second anniversary of Prince's death, and his estate took the occasion to celebrate his life and legacy with a flurry of activity. In just the last week, we've seen the release of the original version of "Nothing Compares 2 U," lost footage of his rehearsals and a website that highlights key moments from his catalo. In an interview with Variety, Troy Carter—the entertainment adviser of Prince's estate—revealed that this past week isn't the end. On September 28, there will be a new Prince album with unreleased material.

Carter is entrusted with the very special job of digging deep through Prince's archives, which he famously collected, in part, in a bank vault under Paisley Park. "Prince recorded and rehearsed and performed constantly, and he taped everything, so once you think you’ve gotten close [to finding everything], you find new things," Carter told Variety. While he was a bit brief on the details of the fall album, he did say if Prince fans went crazy over the release of original "Nothing Compares 2 U," they'd enjoy the album.

"This will be more time-specific," Carter said. "Michael Howe, who’s been working with us on the archive, has done a tremendous job of finding some special pieces of work, and one of the pieces that he found, all of us fell in love with it and decided this was special enough for fans to hear. So we’re putting the final touches on it—it’ll come in the fall.

While Carter didn't share many more details yet, if the recent treats from the vault are any indication, this release should be pretty exciting.
