Yoko Gold Has Arrived, Like the Aliens in the Movie, With "Gone"

The Toronto singer makes his debut with panache.

Yoko Gold has been around the Toronto scene for a while, but he's exploding into your consciousness with his debut single, "Gone." It's a supremely confident piece of R&B-pop that lives through Gold's dynamic vocal performance and Evan Miles' radio-ready production. "Down in Daytona, doing lines with the stoners," sings Gold, making hedonism sound sort of like the future.

"The song was inspired by true events," says Gold. "The character in the story of gone is an old man who I was privileged to meet in the summer of 2014. We sat and spoke about life and his story. He had a lot of pain and regret about his past divorce and the relationship with him and his kids. You think he would be happy but it was only in that moment [that] I realized money never meant a thing." Listen to "Gone" below.
