So. Yeah. The Banksy Hotel. That Banksy has installed. In literal Jerusalem. Depending on your feelings on lots of different issues, The Walled Off Hotel is either an interesting, awareness-raising initiative, or a weird, navel-gazing type thing that feels extremely Banksy and therefore extremely passé. However, it seems that lots of artists and musicians are very much On Board with your boy Banksy's seemingly well-intentioned attempt to start a conversation about Britain's role in the Israeli/Palestine conflict (though he installed it, the website says, it now runs independently as a local business, and profits will be returned to local projects – which, fair play). The latest musicians to get involved are Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails and 'your ex-boyfriend overplaying The Social Network soundtrack' fame.The kings of atmosphere produced music for the hotel's piano bar, where a remote-controlled piano plays various compositions every night, and they've released one of the tracks – "Green Lines" – that they donated. Its chilly piano chords could feasibly be playing in the lobby of the hotels from Psycho, or The Shining and it's an altogether unsettling experience.
