OmariJabari Isn't Having Any of The Reckless Chat on "Run Up"

The track comes off the Toronto artist's newest project 'MARTYR.'

Toronto rapper/producer OmariJabari's not playing any games and that is clear on 'Run Up'. The record hails from the artist's newest liberated project MARTYR and shoots a warning to keyboard warriors through a voice note where a woman states, "You unfollow me in real life cause I can still see you." The production utilizes a disorienting sample that's coolly menacing and stands in direct juxtaposition with the heat of the summer. But that's not his issue, MARTYR ushers in its own season. The six-track EP encapsulates that notable Toronto downtempo sound as the artist make his claim as a top talent to be rivaled in the city.

"To be honest, I was rapping long before I started making beats," explains OmariJabari. "Beats are the ultimate currency in the rap world so if I wanted to progress [in this scene] I had to learn to do that as well. Through my prior work, I've had great opportunities come to me by working with people like T-Minus, DZL and used those experiences to get better.

When it comes to this project 'MARTYR' is the perfect description of what I've gone through to get to now. My heart aches, sacrifices, pains, grown, and future. This is cathartic for me and I just want to let [the project] breathe." Listen to the track and the entire project below".
