The lawsuit against former Crystal Castles singer Alice Glass by her ex-bandmate Ethan Kath was dismissed in February. At the time there were no further details, but new court documents acquired by Pitchfork that summarize a hearing on Wednesday regarding the case seem to shed some light on what exactly went down. According to the papers, Glass (real name Margaret Osborn) was awarded $20,882.69 in attorney fees and costs by Los Angeles judge Samantha Jessner after the court struck down a motion by Kath's (real name Claudio Palmieri) lawyers to vacate the dismissal of his case, arguing that it “was entirely the result of mistakes, inadvertence, neglect, and misconduct” by Kath's prior legal team.Pitchfork also reports that Kath's lawsuit was initially dismissed because he had “failed to provide any admissible evidence” against a motion that Glass made to file said lawsuit under California’s “anti-strategic lawsuit against public participation” (SLAPP) statute. Though a lawyer for Kath told Pitchfork that he still plans to appeal the case, a lawyer for Glass told the publication that "the case is over."Kath sued Glass for defamation in November 2017 after she made a lengthy blog post alleging that years of sexual abuse from Kath were her reason for leaving Crystal Castles in 2014. Crystal Castles were subsequently dropped from festival bills. Kath has repeatedly maintained his innocence, claiming that Glass' allegations are malicious in nature and that she left Crystal Castles due to mental health and substance abuse problems.
