There's something special about the way LA-based rapper Open Mike Eagle can seem so disaffected with life in his verses and still talk about it with such clarity that it feels heartfelt. And that talent of his is on full display for "Admitting the Endorphin Addiction." The first track off his full-length collaboration Hella Personal Film Festival with UK producer Paul White, Eagle tells that very familiar feeling of being in a "fucked up space" where "nobody can hear you sing for help." All whilst, White provides a warm concoction of looped up soul funk and heavy drums.

"The track 'Admitting the Endorphin Addiction' was the first song I got back from Mike when we started this project," producer Paul White explains. "This was the song that told me this was going to a great collaboration, I got so excited after hearing this! Then I heard his lyrics, his melodic rhyming, and his singing and I got shivers hearing the track really coming to life."

"It's a song about addictions of all sorts," adds Open Mike Eagle. "All addictions are ultimately about chemicals in the brain associated with pleasure release. This is a story about a guy realizing where he stands in terms of his own brain chemistry and the world around him."

Hella Personal Film Festival arrives via Mello Music Group March 25. Pre-order it now on iTunes and Bandcamp and listen to the track below.
