Here’s the Solange-Directed Video for SZA’s “The Weekend”

The best song on 'CTRL' gets some long-awaited visuals.

The best song on SZA’s CTRL, Noisey’s album of the year, is “The Weekend,” a woozy track about the upside of infidelity, an oasis of almost pure lyrical self-gratification on a record that’s never far from anxiety. If you want to lock it in as a minor masterpiece, check out SZA’s SNL performance from the other week, in which she played the song backed by a gospel choir and a small horn and woodwind section.

She released the video for the song this morning and it’s as perfectly controlled and artfully constructed as CTRL itself. Directed by Solange Knowles, it sees SZA dancing slowly through beautiful settings—some industrial, some classical—as the film loops back on itself, like a record skipping backwards.
