Country star Kacey Musgraves' most recent LP Golden Hour has been widely hailed for its hazy, lazy, acid-tinged edges, and her new video for single "Space Cowboy" is kind of a visual exemplar of all the things about that record which were so good. Its low-key sensibility mirrors that of the record, which sees Musgraves making many everyday observations about both her relationships and the world around her, though her turn of phrase – much like the pretty way the light hits in the video – elevates what she's saying, so it sounds like poetry. Elsewhere, the scenes featuring billowing purple clouds feel like a sunny day acid trip, and fit especially well with the atmospheric instrumentation of the album, and indeed of "Space Cowboy" as a standalone track. It's a great merging of the reality at the centre of the stories Musgraves tells via her songs, and her fantastical embellishments of those stories, both musically and lyrically – oh, and it's also pretty sad, with bonus #relatable scene of a stood-up Kacey drinking a large glass of white wine. So really it has everything. Watch above.Follow Noisey on Twitter.
