Toronto musician lemin. (pronounced "lemon") is so old-school that her last EP was called Hold A, Act 1, which refers to how you accelerate in racing games on all Nintendo controllers. The forward motion conveyed by that title carries through to her eclectic music, the latest example of which is "My Body," the first single from Hold A, Act 2. Yes, there is always a second act.The weightless ballad has the kind of strong melody and emotive chord progressions that Diane Warren would've killed for in 1997, and lemin.'s textured vocal performance brings the percussion-bereft arrangement to life. It's a song that explores a timeless struggle in pop music: when your logical brain knows that an ex is bad for you but the non-logical brain that controls your flesh is begging you to go back because it was just that good.
