Judas Priest Are Back with a Mighty Vengeance, Listen to "Lightning Strike"

Their new album 'Firepower' is out March 9.

Judas Priest invented the concept of being a group of badasses. That's a strong claim, but think of how well their pioneering work has aged. They were doing proto-NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) and putting fallen angels in hellscapes on their album covers in the 70s. That's objectively nuts! It's a testament to the band's longevity and durability that a 2018 Priest single doesn't sound lame at all, as their new track "Lightning Strike" proves.

Pretty much everything is in place here: Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner's trademark minor-mode leads, the chugging gallop, and of course, Rob Halford leading the brigade like some kind of banshee general (Rob Halford is many things, but he was also Warcraft before Warcraft). The song kicks ass, the album will likely do it triply so. Listen to "Lightning Strike" above.

Update: We accidentally identified former Priest guitarist K.K. Downing as a member of the band upon the initial posting of this article. The information has been amended.
