Solids Continue to Sweat Blood and Premiere the Video for "Blank Stare"

A few years ago, I saw Solids perform at M for Montreal at a venue I can't remember the name of, but it was a pretty :::extremely punk voice::: sick scene. In the club—which had a line down the stairs and around the block—the Montreal duo stood on a tiny little stage among hundreds of sweaty-ass people, furiously playing their instruments below a single light bulb dangling above their heads. At that point, I was unfamiliar with their music, but it was the type of show with energy that makes you feel like you've been listening to a band for years.

Back in 2014, the band released Blame Confusion on Fat Possum, a solid (heh) collection of layered, drone-y punk music, and next week they'll follow it up with an EP called Else on Topshelf Records and Dine Alone available April 15. On top of making the kind of melodic punk that makes you feel like you're stuck in a dream, these guys are commendable for their relentless approach to touring (kind of like fellow Canadians PUP). In the past two years, they've played more than 200 shows across the world, and later this week will launch into another flurry of shows. Below, Noisey is happy to premiere the band's latest video for "Blank Stare," an illustrated video that, according to visual artist Emilio Esteban, is "a disruptive visual attempt to burn down a house, save dogs, and end with a blank stare at the shore."
