William Darc Wrote an Ode to the Murky Allure of Toronto's Nightlife on "Lines"

“Satan with a sweet voice.”

Photo by the author Toronto is a beautiful city during the day, but ask anybody under 30 who lives here and they'll probably tell you that the best part is the actually the nightlife. For some, nighttime in Toronto is a lifestyle—an after-2-AM-type of mindset that has brought us unforgettable music from the likes of The Weeknd, SAFE, and PartyNextDoor.

It's pretty safe to say that Toronto owns the dark R&B genre and that fact has never been more apparent than now with the city's growing pool of up-and-coming talent. This week, downtown singer William Darc is showing off his new single "Lines"—a track that could be described as a tale of drug-fueled lust and emotional confusion, sang by, as Darc would say, "Satan with a sweet voice."

"[The track] is an honest commentary on our personal addictions and emptiness," Darc told Noisey. "An ode to the girl of the night who spends her paycheques running away from the boring daytime world of school and shitty jobs, but finds herself in more trouble than she thought she'd get into." Listen to it below:
