Watch Hierophants New Video for “Pneumatic Drill”

The Geelong/Melbourne garage poppers get stop motion frantic on their new 7".

Perspiration begins to bead on the brow just watching the frantic new video for Melbourne/Geelong band Hierophants.

The video for the A-side from a forthcoming 7” follows the band through a jarring, monochromatic stop-motion world of weird movements and awkward dance moves.

Featuring members of Ausmuteants, Frowning Clouds and ORB, the four-piece have released a number of tape and 7”s so far on labels such as Eskimo Blood, Anti Fade, Birds Love Fighting and Goodbye Boozy. The forthcoming 7” is on Moontown Records, a Canberra based label that has developed a reputation for focusing on great and weird Australian music.

It seems the band are as busy in the studio as they are in the video with a number of upcoming releases in early 2015.

We caught up with the band’s Jake Robertson to find out more.

Noisey: Those shirts are so new you can see the fold marks. Are ironed shirts one of the most unpunk things ever?
Jake Robertson: Nah mohawks, studs and tardiness is.

Was it difficult to keep them tucked in with so much jumping?
We made sure each jump was carefully constructed as to not look tardy.

You guys have a pretty busy release schedule.
This song is on a 7" for Moontown Records. The next one we release will be on Goner and the LP will be out with Aarght and Goner around March hopefully.

The late Bobby Keys appeared on the cover of your first 7". Do you have a fave track that he played sax on?
Gee probably something from Sticky Fingers. Zak, Paris and Terry would be the ones to ask though!
