Shining Bird Head to the Outback For Some Eucalyptus Dream Pop

You will need to shower off the dust after watching 'Morning Light'.

Last year, New South Wales band Shining Bird toured Australia to promote their second album Black Opal. Itwasn't an average tour. The six-piece dipped into the more regional corners of the country, bringing their experimental pop to typically forgotten 'band on tour' territories like Woomera, Alice Springs, Uluru, and Thirroul. The album itself is also steeped in the importance of Australiana, so it's no surprise that Shining Bird's new video for "Morning Light" is an unfettered homage to bands of the bush.

The clip is a collage of the outback with each image blending into the next, a burning sunrise against scarecrow-like trees and silhouettes of the majestic Uluru, as well as the band braving the heat and playing the best they can in one huge, sandy landscape. Despite the Aussie flies darting around their faces, the morning light is all they need.

Filmed, directed and edited by James Kates in the beauty of the Northern Territory, even the growling baritone of singer Dane Taylor matches the quiet hum of the desert. Watch the spirit of Australia alongside Shining Bird's dreamy sound below.
