Listen to Sebastien Grainger’s New Track "I'm Looking For A Hand"

The dude from Death From Above 1979 returns with new solo material

If you're looking for another Death From Above 1979 album with Sebastien Grainger's forthcoming solo record, sorry, Grainger's showing off a different side of himself here. With "I'm Looking For A Hand" the singer reveals he's "looking for a sound in a world of vision." We're not sure what he was tripping on when he made this track, but we're more than okay with this as the outcome—this cut from his LP, Yours to Discover (out tomorrow), features a combination of electro-pop influences and contemporary, dreamy sounds.

Still best known for creating thrillingly raw, dance-angled garage rock in his former guise, Grainger showcases his ability to manipulate melodies and vocals into something still rough, yet beautiful. Utilizing synths and electronic beats (think Empire of The Sun and M83), this is a huge departure from his 08 solo debut, Sebastian Grainger & The Mountains. And die-hard DFA1979 fans— don't worry—the Toronto duo have confirmed they're recording a follow-up to their 2004 debut, and this is a pretty sweet select to tide us over.
