Gorillaz, Noel Gallagher, and Jehnny Beth Take "We Got The Power" to Graham Norton

Beth and Damon Albarn follow the performance up by sitting next to Kevin Bacon for a perfectly odd interview.

Virtual quartet Gorillaz have been hitting the late night circuit since the release of their long-awaited new album, Humanz. They even let Stephen Colbert wear a parka and spit bars in De La Soul's place on an extra cut from last week's Late Show performance. Regardless of the circumstances, they always pull out the stops with ambitious staging and special guests. Last night, they brought Noel Gallagher and Savages leader Jehnny Beth to The Graham Norton Show for a performance of "We Got The Power." It's pleasantly sleek and it's always going to be a small thrill for a lot of people to see Noel Gallagher perform onstage with his once-rival Damon Albarn.

The real fun here, however, comes when Albarn and Beth move to the couch for a post-performance interview. Graham Norton is the type of host who creates his own atmosphere: colorful, occasionally crude, soaked in white wine, naturally convivial. This isn't a natural aesthetic for Gorillaz (or Savages), but the two play along pretty well. Beth worryingly takes a sip of wine—she's been sober for years—and then says that she and Albarn met on Tinder. Norton cracks a couple of jokes about Albarn and Gallagher's former enmity; Diane Keaton, Jessica Chastain, Michael Fassbender, and Kevin Bacon watch on, slightly bewildered.
