Sowdy Gets Rowdy With the Home Baked Crew and the Perth Hip-Hop Scene

Listen to the young Perth MC's new album 'Clockwork'.

Perth MC Sowdy’s latest album Clockwork is a shout out and celebration to the young creatives of his hometown the 6K.

The concept for the album started with the track “Clockwork” which the young Home Baked Crew MC freestyled one night at 3am. “I thought the whole concept was pretty cool, and began to make an album centred around that idea, of having that regular schedule, living for music, working like it’s clockwork as I’d been tirelessly recording and making beats, whether it be for myself or for Home Baked,” Sowdy explains via email.

But what started as a solo album soon developed into a kind of musical/creative Linkedin profile that includes contributions from his Home Baked brothers (Evanda, Luchii, Figuero Jones, Black Napoleon & Kingg Lear), artists Gamirez and Princess Khanya, Brisbane producer BVB, a beat from AudioEscobar and a few gems from ErikiBeatz. Visual representation comes from Jacob Brinkworth and Perth photographer Melissa Lubbe.

The album, that we are premiering on NOISEY today, starts with some pretty sounds based around some nice piano based samples before hitting somer darker and heavier jams based around some faster 808s sounds and flows.

'Clockwork' is available now.
