Allie X’s “Vintage” is Basically Pop Perfection

Big fan of The 1975? Still can't get over Carly Rae Jepsen's 'Emotion'? This one's for you, buddy.

Hey, you! Yeah, man, you! Are you a fan of, um, like… a bit of occasional Charlie XCX? "Boom Clap"? Did that one get you? I bet it did. You a fan of a bit of the old Sky Ferreira? A bit of the old Carly Rae Jepsen? That's right, you're on human. You're only a human who doesn't have some awful, deep-seated insidious emotional virus that causes them to reject all forms of pop culture in the fear of being seen as unintelligent.

That's right. Congratulations. You're a functioning human being with an ear for juicy, "summer-ready" bangers. Congratulations and welcome to higher living. If you've ever bopped to "Somebody Else" by the 1975, or put "Jealous" by Nick Jonas on the aux despite the ensuing ridicule, you're one of us, pal. I'm proud of you.

And do I have a treat for you. Allie X is by no means unknown. In fact, she's a rapidly rising pop star, with millions of listens on Spotify. Last week saw the release of her second album CollXtion II, which happens to have, we must say, one of the nicest pop bangers on it that we've heard in a while. It's called "Vintage" and good lord, does it go.

Listen to it—and the rest of CollXtion II—below.
