Of Course Father John Misty's New Song "Mr. Tillman" Is About Himself

J. Tillman gives us another metanarrative folk song to ponder over as he apparently gears up for his new 2018 album.

Damn, Tillman! Back at it again with the nice chords and obtuse navel-gazing. Almost a year removed from the labyrinthine Pure Comedy, Father John Misty has released his first new song of 2018, possibly in anticipation of that new album he's been teasing recently. The concise and baroque "Mr. Tillman" finds FJM grilling himself on proper hotel conduct (J. Tillman, not the presumably metanarrative construct singing the song) in the third-person while name-dropping Jason Isbell for some reason. The commentary is elliptical, but song is also really pretty as per usual. Listen to "Mr. Tillman" above.
