Pond's New Single Sounds Like Kissing on the Grass Under the Stars

Produced by Kevin Parker, the track indicates a shift into the poppier side of psych pop.

Everyone's favourite Perth-made side project turned big, successful-ass band are back. Pond have dropped a lead single "The Weather" from the impending album of the same name, and it seems to be a turn towards a more mellow and pop-driven Pond.

Produced by Kevin Parker, the track sounds like it should soundtrack the scene in a coming-of-age film where the protagonist gets high for the first time and then kisses his crush in a backyard under the stars. It's really very nice. In fact, it reminds me of something Nick Allbrook said half way through his set at Volumes Festival in Sydney last year: "I'm so happy I feel like I could piss out the window and hit the moon." We hear you, Nick.

The album, also produced by Kevin Parker, is due out this May 5th via EMI. Listen to "The Weather" below.
