Exotica Have a New Record So It's Time To Start Gushing Expletives

The Brooklyn band return with more snarling hardcore punk.

Exotica are a furious hardcore band from Brooklyn made up of members from other places including Mexico and Argentina. Their excellent Musique Exotique #01 was one of my favourite releases of recent years and I've gushed about its devastating energy and creativity to anyone who will listen. While the New York hardcore scene has sprouted a bunch of excellent bands in recent years, few can write the kind of burly melody and cool off-kilter guitar harmonies, as Lauren, Anjelica, David and Santi.

With the return of a new LP, the appropriately titled Musique Exotique #02, they've lost none of their intensity. Again it turns up elements of early Brazilian punk sounds with a charging modern NYC vibe but the production, recorded by the band themselves, has improved.

Tracks like "Ser Nada" and "The Hand That Feeds" have Lauren's snarl while the guitar of Dave from Muerte and Tercer Mundo is plain feral. Listen below.

'Musique Exotique #02' is available June 24 through La Vida Es Un Mus.
