Named after an album by super prolific home recorder L Steive Moore, Hobbies Galore is a relatively new Melbourne label operated by Alex Macfarlane (Stevens, Twerps, Tyrannamen) that specialises in small run cassettes from local acts. Having already released a tape by Hot Topic and a collection of Macfarlane's own home recordings, today they make available cassettes from Blank Statements and the Stroppies.Blank Statements are Tamsen Hopkinson, Claudia Serfaty, Julia McFarlane and Steph Hughes. Members have played in bands such as Twerps, Dick Diver, and Prime Time and this influence can be heard in their charming lo-fi pop.The Stroppies include Serfaty and Hughes teaming up with Rory Heane from White Walls and Angus Lord who is Macfarlane's band mate in the Stevens, Twerps, Tyrannamen.Both cassettes were recorded by Alex Macfarlane and mastered by Mikey Young.The Blank Statements and The Stroppies cassettes are available now through the Hobbies Galore Bandcamp.
