The Best Tracks to Welcome the Sunrise According to Pelvis

The Sydney DJ crew share some tunes to play when dawn is peeking through the cracks.

Pelvis know how to party. The Sydney-based DJ/art crew have been putting on parties, making tracks, and producing videos, for a few years now. They know how to work a room like my old housemate knows how to work a bowl of ramen. With sweat and gusto.

So late last year, Bacardi called on Pelvis alongside some of the key players of Melbourne's party scene—Daydreams, CRXZY SXXY CXXL, and yours truly—to help throw a party and shine a spotlight on the scene.

As part of the Party Talk video series, Ryan from Pelvis told us that often the highlight of a night is battling it out with the Pelvis crew to play the last song of the night.

With that in mind we reached out to Ryan to find out his favourite dance floor tracks to play when the sun starts peeking through the windows. Watch the video below alongside some of his dawn bangers.

Talk Talk - "It's My Life"

Admit it, you only know the words to the chorus (and you secretly prefer the No Doubt version). A life-affirming song to end any night, soaring into a new morning like the eagle in the music video.

Mark Tower - "You Aren't Fall In Love"

The best way to end any night is watching somebody seeking the name of this song as they try to sing the lyrics back to you.

Prince - "I Wish U Heaven"

After Prince passed we were in Melbourne at the Mercat. We played I Wish U Heaven and then Forever In My Life, back into I Wish U Heaven as the video for the track splashed over the walls of the club. A purple moment. Fun fact: the last time Prince played I Wish U Heaven live was in Melbourne.

Payola$ - "Eyes of a Stranger" (Played at 45rpm not 33)

One member of Pelvis apparently prefers this played at 33. A battle usually occurs over the turntable's 33/45 speed control buttons and this song is burned into our memory as switching between fast and slow every few seconds.

Exile - "I Wanna Kiss You All Over"

A guilty pleasure from early Pelvis parties. When this plays, you can tell who is single just by the look on their face.
