Damn Daniel Saves Rivers Cuomo From Himself in Weezer's New Video for "California Kids"

Damn Weezer, back at it again with the memey videos!

Memes are going to outlive each and every one of us. When our entire species is wiped out by some kind of terrifying, life-erasing technovirus, the alien civilizations that take the crumbly remains are going to look at memes to understand how our culture operated. After looking through piles of "Keep Calm and Carry On" parody posters and pallets of dusty "O RLY" owl plush dolls, earth's new inhabitants will come across Weezer's video for "California Kids," locked away on some dead nerd's hard drive.

The video combines several of the band's previous videos in lead up to their record The White Album, where Rivers ate up a whole lot of cannolis and sulked around a beach, to show the longer narrative it all creates. At the end of the video, Rivers digs up…himself from the sand, and becomes one person, who is then greeted by the two kids from 2016's Break Out Meme, Damn Daniel. Damn Daniel himself approaches Rivers to get a picture, while the Damn Daniel Voice guy films, doing the Damn Daniel voice and saying "Damn Rivers, back at it again with the Ray-Bans!" It's a good, weird kind of moment that embodies the spirit of Weezer and will be sure to confuse future aliens.
