Well Damn, Mind Your Own Biscuits and Listen to Kacey Musgraves’ New Song

The country singer returns with her first song since her award-winning debut record, 'Same Trailer, Different Park.'

Still from Kacey Musgraves' video for "Follow Your Arrow"

Ah, Kacey Musgraves. It’s good to hear your voice again. It’s been lonely out here this winter, walking through the streets of the city without your whimsical lyrics of blowin’ smoke and rememberin’ what life is like outside the Big Apple. Here, we have her first song since her debut album Same Trailer, Different Park (which won her Album of the Year at the CMAs and Best New Artist at the 2013 Grammys). Upon a few listens, I’ve already concluded it’s a banger worth at least five fire emojis, and perhaps, on top of that, even two turn up emojis. In classic Kacey Musgraves fashion—by the way, how sick is it to have a signature style when you’ve only released one album? Kacey is the future, man—she presents such accessible yet specific lyrics. Here, let’s just sing the refrain together: “So hoe your own row, and raise our own babies / smoke your own smoke, and grow your own daisies / mend your own fences, and own your own crazy / mind your own biscuits, and life will be gravy.” Gah damn, gah damn. Those are some life lessons for y'all. Is this song on karaoke yet? Listen below.
