Courtney Barnett is Collaborating With the Breeders

Barnett is to feature on The Breeders’ new album after visiting them in the studio in Ohio.

Courtney Barnett has launched a cannonball (sorry) with the announcement that she will make an appearance on the new Breeders album.

Barnett and her band were recently in Ohio for a performance at Nelsonville Music Festival, when they dropped in on a Breeders recording session.

According to social media posts by both Barnett and the Breeders, Courtney and her band have contributed some backing vocals on the new album.

The collaboration makes sense. Barnett has previously covered the Breeders “Cannonball” and many reviews of her debut Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit likened it to indie rock of the 90s when the Breeders ruled the genre.

The album will be the Breeders first since 2008’s Mountain Battles, and the first to feature the Last Splash lineup - featuring Kim and Kelley Deal, bassist Josephine Wiggs and drummer Jim Macpherson - since the mid 90s
