Basketball enthusiast Drake released two new singles late on Friday night. "God's Plan" and "Diplomatic Immunity," packaged together as Scary Hours, are the first proper songs that he's released since last year's Louis Vuitton-branded "Signs."

"God's Plan," produced by Yung Exclusive, Boi-1da, Cardo, and Noah "40" Shebib, sounds like it could've been lifted from Take Care: he's a little isolated, upset that people want him to fail, and happy to rap about the fact he doesn't want to cuddle: "She say, 'Do you love me?' / I tell her, 'Only partly / I only love my bed and my momma, I'm sorry.'"

"Diplomatic Immunity" is supposed to be all scorched earth, Drake lashing out over a Nick Brongers and Boi-1da beat, and a couple of things do catch. The reference to Joe Budden works well as a not-angry-just-disappointed line: "I’ve seen buddin' careers turn to sit around and talk about other careers, judging their peers." But give Drake a minute or two and he's back into his feelings, thinking about J. Lo and her new boyfriend and what could've been.
