Down And Out but Getting By? So Are WAAX

Watch the Brisbane band's new video—starring a very believable depressive night on the piss.

WAAX's latest video for "Wild & Weak" reminds me of being very, very wasted in Brisbane. Cruising idly through Chinatown, making sure to grab a tallie for the short walk up to karaoke at the Brunno.

Being on a bender in Fortitude Valley can be absolutely terrifying, due to its dense size and mass populations of young people wanting to get on the piss, and WAAX completely nail what it feels like partying away your problems in that Queensland epicentre of booze, clubs and bars.

Frontwoman Marie DeVita's on fire here. Channeling Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Karen O's devastating tears in "Maps", DeVita presents as a dynamic force to be reckoned with. Rock and roll is back, and it's in full-force in Brisbane.

WAAX tour Australia starting next week. To see dates and to score tickets, head to the band's website.
