When you approach making music—especially as a band—with a "fuck everything" direction, you're either going to produce raw trash or compelling oddities. Toronto-based septet Jaunt fall into the latter category, as their new single "Faster Interactions" intersects several genres while finding the best in each one. Gentle acoustic guitars collide with an ultra-smooth soft rock groove, with jazzy chord progressions hitting all the sweet spots. The accompanying video illuminates the weirdness, following a dude as he tries to get some sleep, but can't thanks to Jaunt themselves playing this damn song in his subconscious or something (full disclosure: former Vice Canada employee Max Parr directed the clip). Relatable, amirite?"This is probably our zaniest track to date!" says the band in a statement. "We’re also really trying to bring back the sound of cheap keyboard orchestra hits in pop music again ;). The video is a bit goofy. It’s a bit disturbing. The idea was born out of wanting to create something that complimented the unhinged nature of the song, while not taking ourselves too seriously. We had a lot of fun with the body-cam shots."
