25 People Shot After Shooting in Little Rock, Arkansas Nightclub

The shooting reportedly stemmed from a dispute in the club.

Update [July 1, 12:19PM CST]: Police now report the number of injured has increased to 25 shot. More information about the shooting will be released during a press conference this afternoon.

Twenty-five people were shot in a Little Rock, Arkansas nightclub early Saturday morning, local police said. More nightclub guests were reportedly injured while trying to escape and getting trampled.

Little Rock police began receiving calls about a shooting around 2:30 a.m. at a venue named Power Ultra Lounge. Motive for the shooting is still unclear at this time, but Steven McClanahan, Lieutenant of the Little Rock Police Department, told THUMP on a phone call that police believe it stemmed from a dispute.

"We're still trying to determine why the shooting took place," McClanahan said. McClanahan said there was not an "active shooter" nor was it a "terrorism incident."

An exchange of gunfire took place after the dispute broke out. According to a flyer from the club's Facebook page, an artist named Finese 2Tymes was set to perform Friday night. Police do not believe the incident is connected to terrorism or an active shooter. No suspect is currently in custody, McClanahan said.

One person shot has been updated from critical to stable condition and the other injuries don't appear life-threatening. "We don't think anyone's going to die from this, but that's still way too many people being shot," McClanahan added.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Little Rock mayor Mark Stodola said, "My heart is broken this morning — my prayers are with the victims of this tragedy."
