Treasure Island Festival Drops Its Dance-Heaviest Lineup Ever

The traditionally untz-lite festival is bringing mad beats to the bay area.

Launched in 2007, Treasure Island Music Festival has traditionally featured booking heavy on indie-rock and alt-pop, but its 2015 lineup, just released, houses a smorgasbord of dance music that signifies a major change in their programming policy.

Deadmau5 will haul his (hopefully functional) Thunderdome rig to the man-made island just off the coast of San Francisco, where he'll share headlining duty with snoozetown indie-rock champions The National.

Scandinavian pop icon Robyn will debut her La Bagatelle Magique show on American soil and livetronica essentials STS9 will find a welcome audience in the bay area.

With Gorgon City (live), Hudson Mohawke, Cashmere Cat, Azealia Banks, Viceroy, Bob Moses and Shamir rounding out the electronic end of the spectrum, it's clear that festival organizers Noise Pop and Another Planet have upped both the quality and quantity of dance on display.

Elsewhere on the lineup, Irish pop darlings CHVRCHES, Springsteen imitators The War on Drugs, the inimitable Deerhunter, and Jose Gonzalez AKA 'That Guy Who Covered The Knife' are all set to appear.
