Birthday Boy and Trish's 'Joseph' EP Is Beautiful, Funky Bliss

The Toronto producer links up with a singer who knows her way around a good groove.

Birthday Boy might be one of Toronto's best collaborators, molding to everything from smooth soul to bouncy hip-hop while bringing his lithe, butt-shaking touch to the proceedings. His latest release is a joint EP between himself and singer Trish that finds both embracing ultra-jazzy nu-disco, with Trish embodying the extravagance of My Melody-era Deniece Williams on lush songs like "Just One Kiss." "Golden Medal" might be the highlight, showcasing both Trish's vocal chops and Birthday Boy's synth orchestrations at their finest.

"The Joseph EP focuses on love outside of the romantic spectrum: love for oneself, for one’s family, and for the latent beauty hidden in each moment of life," Birthday Boy told Noisey. "The process of making these songs was uplifting, and we hope it can have the same effect on listeners. People can expect to hear more from the three of us (birthday boy, Trish and songwriter Joe Law) before too long." Stream Joseph below.
