In The Queue - Frieze Art Fair

What makes something art? Is it all down to concept, or is it determined by something tangible? It's a question that literally everyone on the planet has been violently agonising over since Marcel Duchamp signed a urinal with "R. Mutt" and proclaimed it to be an art piece. "But that's not a painting," said some people. "Hey, I never knew something made out of porcelain could be art," said people who'd never seen pottery.

Little has been established since then, so we went to Frieze art fair and tried to get to the bottom of it. We thought the best way to establish what constitutes art would be to ask some big "philosophical" questions, like "What is art?" and "Can you name an artist from an ethnic minority?" (Why did no one say Basquiat?)
