The growing influence and scope of London's Rinse FM seems firing ahead at full speed now, with the launch of their label and their gradual reaching into the dance-pop crossover realm. One of the most genuinely interesting things in the recent Rinse story, post-FM licence, has been their continued respect amongst the old school heads, as well as their ability to nurture homegrown talent headed for mainstream success. Katy B's forthcoming LP Little Red is set to be a prime example of how the classic sounds championed by Rinse are having A Big Moment in the UK pop world, and a newcomer that seems set to join her is Route 94.His 'My Love' single has been getting, um, rinsed on BBC Radio 1 by Zane Lowe recently, and now it's been remixed by (amongst others) London funky house producer, Butterz affiliate and recent Rinse Presents featured artist Royal T. Like so much else from the Rinse camp, it feels a natural fit; Royal T's funky house tendencies put a massive swing into the mix, and Route 94's stomping basslines and forward-thinking pop feel marks this one out for a potentially solid crossover appeal.
