Dinnerdate’s Newest Collaboration is a First Kiss in MP3 Form

"Souls Together" is most definitely one for the lovers.

Dinnerdate is the production alias of Simon Hoppe, a German musician who first broke into the scene at the peak of the deep house revival with a remix of José González's "Crosses," which quickly rose to the top of the charts on HypeM. It's an affair so full of pure, unadulterated love, it could make Donald Sterling go down on Mike Tyson. Since then, Simon has released a constant string of successful remixes and originals that have been the bedtime anthems of teenage girls across the globe. "Souls Together," Simon's first collaboration with happy-go-lucky country mates Fabich & Ferdinand Weber had me coming back to it almost hourly since receiving the first demo. From the balance that "Souls Together" finds between their two sounds you'd guess that the three were long time friends, but Simon swears that the track was the byproduct of a tweet from Chris Fabich to Dinnerdate's account. When asked if the collaboration was difficult, Simon revealed, "We met each other and instantly connected, because we seemed to have exactly the same taste in music. One day, Ferdinand showed me these chords, I listened to them and I had the finished track in mind immediately. We kept passing the keyboard to one another and everyone did what they did best… after about seven hours of tweaking the entire track was finished."

I loved this track when all I had were my Macbook speakers, and listening to it with a proper set of headphones seals the deal like that last shot of tequila before leaving the club.
