Day 205: "Oh Let's Do It" – No Ceilings , 2009Some days, it is truly staggering to contemplate how many excellent bars Lil Wayne has rapped. No Ceilings, I think, is generally overlooked when people of a certain older generation discuss Wayne's career (for a younger generation who started listening post-prison, it seems like it's seen as his underground heyday, oddly enough). But No Ceilings has many of Wayne's most jaw-dropping performances on it, in that its highlights are almost all single verse rap masterclasses, three minutes without a hook or even a pause. There have been some discussions lately suggesting that rap lyricism died out during the 00s, but all you have to do is listen to Wayne to know that's obviously not true. Who else even has any releases with this much pure rapping on so many songs? Check out these bars, in particular, and move it along:
