HTRK’s “Blue Sunshine” Is Tender But Never Sweet

Melbourne’s HTRK has reserved a special little part of the local scene’s black, cigarette ash coated heart since 2003, and every new song or LP is a welcome treat.

Melbourne's HTRK has held a special place in the local scene's black, cigarette ash-coated heart since 2003. And even though every new song or LP is a welcome treat, their upcoming release Psychic 9-5 Club stands apart as it's their first album since band member Sean Stewart passed away during the recording of their last full length Work (Work Work).

On the album's first track "Blue Sunshine" Jonnine Standish (vocals) and Nigel Yang (guitar/synth) favour lean production and manage to walk the line of being tender but never saccharin. Despite the sensitivities surrounding the new work, they haven't lost any of their signature toughness.

"Phychic 9-5" is out 28 March
