Here's Rathborne's Video for "Last Forgiven"

The New York singer's first cut from his forthcoming album makes us wanna drive down the coast. With the top down. And a picnic hamper.

It feels like a long time since Luke Rathborne's EP, I Can Be One / Dog Years, back in 2011, and we've missed him. These days he goes by his last name only, and this laid-back, confident, new wave-meets-classic rock cut contains just the right amount of Nick Lowe and early R.E.M. (yeah, this is a good thing). It makes us wanna drive down some coastal highway. Also we're totally digging the video which tips its cap to early MTV (or public-access television), and was shot on VHS, deep in a dark basement in the Rockefeller Center.

Anyway, this song is lifted from his forthcoming album, Soft, produced by Emery Dobyns and co-produced by Gus Oberg and Strokes guitarist, Albert Hammond Jr. It's out on July 13, on DILETTANTE/True Believer, and you can celebrate this yay-moment with Rathborne at the record release party at the Knitting Factory.
