Premiere: The Foetals - "The World Isn't That Big"

A golden slice of 60s Americana - straight from the outskirts of Manchester.

If you weren't alive in the 60s to burn a doobie on a SoCal beach after a long day of bodyboarding with your brothers, then Jolan Lewis, who goes by the moniker The Foetals, will make you feel like you were. Playing 60s Americana with a northern English twist, The Foetals blend the kicked-back garage pop of The Beach Boys with The Beatles' sharp harmonies. We're premiering "The World Isn't That Big" from his debut album Meet The Foetals, which Jolan recorded in just two days at his own small studio in the outskirts of Manchester. The track feels out a middle ground between golden 60s pop records and the jangly DIY sound of American private press LPs, and casts its own personal shadows over the endless summer of a bygone era.
