For a while now, Bristol has been grime's second city. Boofy and Lemzly Dale are two grime diciples whose earthy, unrelenting sound can be heard on their latest release comes in the form of "Catch A Body", a shadowy loner of the instrumental grime category and B-side "Banshee", another spooky yet enticingly melodic slice of bass which sprinkles in vocal snippets atop rolling claps and industrial hi hats. The release is out on white label only and limited to just 300 copies in a nod to the dubplate culture of yesteryear. But before diving into 30mins of bass laden audio in their exclusive mix for Touching Bass, we talked about corner shops, Mila Kunis and the state of grime right now.

Boofy: Working. On this nine to five. Working as a what?
Lemzly Dale: I’m a retail pagan. It’s just for the time being. So how long have you been working together?Lemzly Dale: Probably about four or five months.Boofy: Yeah, probably since around April because I’d just come back from 'Dam.What was Holland saying?Boofy: I need to go back. It was bare unorthodox. Just because I haven’t been out of the country in years, that was a weird trip. It was like an escape ting. That’s why when I came back I thought, let’s get something rolling. That’s when we made the first tune, after I had a fresh mind. How did you guys first find music?Lemzly Dale: I think it was when I came back from a festival in Leeds or something like that. I must have seen Benga or Caspa or someone like that and it was when I was into dubstep. I just came back and got straight into Reason. I was making shit tunes for a while, starting off with hip hop and then I jumped into grime. What did you guys get in A Levels?Boofy: I don’t even remember bruv. It took me about six months to find out my results. They try and make you do everything on computers so I tried to log in but they gave me some shit password or something. I aired it and waited for it to be sent to my yard. I just got them average grades. What was the scenario when you guys were making “Catch A Body”?Boofy: It wasn’t even pre-planned.
